ANTI-ARCHIVE wins historic two awards for WHITE BUILDING at Busan International Film Festival10/17/2016 ANTI-ARCHIVE made its debut at last week’s Busan International Film Festival with a historic two awards for WHITE BUILDING, a developing project by Kavich NEANG, and the Asian Premiere of DIAMOND ISLAND, a feature film directed by Davy CHOU. BUSAN, SOUTH KOREA—Cambodian film production company Anti-Archive is pleased to announce that, on 11 October 2016, director Kavich NEANG received two prizes at the awards ceremony of the Asian Project Market (APM) as part of the 21st Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) in Busan, South Korea. The project was invited to APM alongside 26 other films currently in varied stages of development. Kavich NEANG, a young filmmaker from Phnom Penh, is currently developing his first narrative feature film, WHITE BUILDING, named after the building in which he grew up and where the film's story occurs. The project is produced by Davy CHOU and Steve CHEN of Anti-Archive (Phnom Penh, Cambodia) and co-produced by Marine ARRIGHI de CASANOVA of Apsara Films (Paris, France). At the conclusion of this year’s APM, WHITE BUILDING made history as the first project to ever receive two of the seven awards presented at the APM. The awards received were the CJ Entertainment Award, which includes a USD$10,000 prize from the powerhouse Korean entertainment company CJ E&M, and the ARTE International Prize, which includes a EUR€6,000 prize. Kavich said, “It feels like a miracle for me to win two prizes at APM this year. Following its world premiere in the Critic’s Week sidebar of the 2016 Cannes Film Festival and healthy travel on the global film festival circuit, DIAMOND ISLAND held its Asian Premiere at BIFF on 9 October 2016. The film screened to audiences in Busan, with Davy CHOU present to answer questions following two screenings. The film has already won the SACD award at Cannes Critic’s Week, and it has also taken the top prizes at Cabourg Film Festival (France) and the International Festival of Francophone Film in Namur (Belgium). The film will premiere in Cambodia on 27 October 2016, at six cinemas in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. Last week, Variety magazine profiled Anti-Archive, the development of WHITE BUILDING, and the screening of DIAMOND ISLAND.
